David Abdelmalak
DDS, MMSc
Dr. David was raised in Southern California and grew up in the South Bay area. He attended the University of California, San Diego, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in microbiology while volunteering with the UCSD student-run dental clinic. He graduated from Howard University College of Dentistry as a member of the national honor dental society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. During dental school, Dr. David performed groundbreaking research with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) with a focus on cancer therapy for patients.
He then pursued his endodontic training at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where he earned his Master of Medical Science degree through the Harvard Medical School system. While attending Harvard, Dr. David taught endodontics to the dental students for over two years, serving as their attending doctor during clinical treatment of patients. Dr. David has lectured nationally and internationally with a focus on 3D imaging technology, advancements in endodontic instruments and the proper use of antibiotics for the treatment of infections. He had been awarded many honors and distinctions for his medical research and lectures in modern endodontics.
He is an active member of many dental societies: the American Dental Association®, the California Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontics and the American Association of Dental Research.
In his spare time, Dr. David enjoys surfing, skiing and hiking.
Dr. Donald Chang, DDS MPH.
Dr. Donald K. Chang received his pre-doctoral training at (UCLA) where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He continued his studies at the UCLA School of Public Health where he earned a Master in Public Health focusing on Environmental Health Science.
Dr. Chang then went to the UCLA School of Dentistry to earn his Doctorate in Dental Surgery. After graduating from dental school in 2001, Dr. Chang furthered his dental education via a General Practice Residency (GPR) at the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center- Sepulveda. After completing the residency, Dr. Chang practiced general dentistry in his own office for several years before deciding to specialize in one area of dentistry, that of endodontics.
In 2008, Dr. Chang joined the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of the University of Southern California (USC) as an endodontic resident where he trained under the tutelage of one of the founding fathers of endodontics, Dr. James Simon. After graduating from his endodontics residency at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at USC, he continued to be a part of the Endodontics Department as an Adjunct Assistant Professor overseeing the residents in their training to be endodontists. In addition, he spent time at the UCLA School of Dentistry teaching the undergraduate dental students in their quest to become dentists.
Dr. Chang is a professional member of various local and national dental organizations, including the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, American Association of Endodontists, the West L.A. Dental Society and the San Fernando Valley Dental Society.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Chang, known to many as Don, is a devoted husband and father to three wonderful children: Megan, Emily, and Joshua. He is passionate about sports, particularly as a fervent supporter of UCLA football and basketball, as well as the Los Angeles Lakers, Dodgers, and Rams. In his leisure time, Don enjoys playing basketball, golfing, and spending quality time with his family, whether camping in the great outdoors or saltwater fishing. When he needs to recharge, you can find him surfing the waves along the beautiful beaches of Ventura and Malibu.
